[Tuuri is here! She's a bit wobbly on her feet and still looks like shit, but she changed into her alternate outfit before coming so she's not all bloody. There's still bandaging around her neck and arms btw.

She still coughs every now and then but it's not nearly as bad as Lavi's cough.

How are the sharks not dead? I feel like the forces of the tornado would kill them outright.

Suspension of belief. Most scientists have confirmed that they'd be dead, but it's for fun.

[ very gently also rubs at her back when it's a bad cough as long as she doesn't have some gaping wound back there, maple. ]

Oh, so like how sometimes there's fantastical elements in stories, but they're not true? But if that's how it is, how did they film sharks in tornadoes?

Yeah, exactly like that.

But, uh, the sharks aren't real. Mostly. They're an effect created through computers. Anything you see that's just a little uncanny, or doesn't seem quite right or real? That's usually made by technology.

They can make whole movies with computers?

[ :o computers are awesome]

Fortunately and unfortunately alike, yeah. It makes it safer for the actors and any possible animals, too, since that means they won't be harmed.

This all sounds pretty great, why would it be 'unfortunate'?

Poor quality films made with rushjobs that put artists through the ringer, or just so bad it's not enjoyable because it's so ugly to look at.

[ tuuri is also getting a blanket!! they've all been thru this multiple times now, so she's come prepared.

seeing as how kon has already explained cgi... ]

If you think these sharks are impressive, you should see Jaws. They used man made mechanical sharks, so they were even more life like than the cgi ones here.

[Blankie!!!]

A mechanical shark...that sounds amazing!

[She is much more about mechanical things than cgi tbh]

How does it work? Do they have an external solar panel connected by a cord, so they can remove it and make it look more shark-like?

[ me having to do jaws research for this. help ]

No solar panel required actually! It was a steel frame and they used a combo of hydraulics, along with some air-powered pneumatic mechanisms to move the different parts.

But there must have been some power source to get it to move, even with air power. They didn't just wait for a breeze, right?
