Yeah, it stands out that's for sure. There were a few others milling around, but Amane knows Mizuki and Iris so she ended up being the one I asked questions of.
[ nods. ]
Also she's completely aware of how much of a con places like these are, which is kinda hilarious.
[ on one hand, he does like the "sadder but wiser girl" type. on the other, he also likes maid cafes. so he is unsure how to feel about this. ]
Well, I don't think they're inherently a con. If you aren't under any delusions about the maids' feelings for you and have plenty of money to throw around, there's nothing wrong with enjoying yourself at a place like this.
[ just looks at him getting a lil bit defensive there. ]
I know. Mizuki goes because she likes hanging out with the girls — no clue if they’re nice to her because she’s the boss’ daughter or anything, but they seem to like her. You know there’s gonna be a bunch of people who think it’s all real though, right? The feelings part at least.
[ he can imagine that. ] Otherwise, it’s slightly pricey fun, yeah.
Not like they could really get rid of me even if they wanted to, but I do want to maintain a classy image.
[ he says as he scrolls through some selfies of him in a weeb yukata with a kid behind him who looks almost identical to him except green and unexpressive? ]

Sure, but that's their problem!
no subject
Sure is. Y’know they have a ranking system based on how much you’ve spent there? Different types of trident.

[ he’s already gone there enough times to question people, he doesn’t want to go there to investigate an otaku rampage too. ]

[
What are the different types? The basic bronze, silver, gold?

[ then waifu wars would be funny ]
I think? And then plantinum and... what's the one that begins with O? Orichalcum?

Is it?
... Damn, Renju really thought about this. [ did he think it was a cash grab? maybe. ]

[ pff. ]
Somehow I'm not that surprised you know a fair bit about how maid cafés work.
no subject
[ if he was the owner he'd get services for free!! ]

To supplement the cost of running a busy school?
[ ... ]
Fair though, you'd probably rake in tons.

We do already make a pretty good profit off of Mepphyland, but it never hurts to have more funding, or another place for fun and leisure!
no subject
...
Mepphyland.
[ he can. he can guess. but. ]
no subject
[ smiles. ]
Not the same as the one you've been taking trips to, of course.
no subject
I’d have a lot more questions if you were like “yeah, I make funding off that”, actually.

[ the "classy image" thing gets a laugh out of him, especially after the weeb yukata. but-- oh. ]
Relative?

—Ah. Younger brother.

he's tilting his head to look at the background closer. ]
You give off more of an only child vibe, honestly. [ pause. ] I guess it's different for non-humans.
