[ mephisto's got nowhere to be, so he'll hang around the execution bar long enough to finish his drink, at least.

with a glance down — way down — at harrow, he leans back against the wall. ]

That was more of a production than I expected.

They had clearly prepared for it, hadn't they?

They had! They made it sound as if it were spontaneous, but what else is this normally-inaccessible island here for if none of this was part of the plan?

I suppose it is possible they can create the islands spontaneously, but these demons are lazy and unhelpful at every turn, and won't answer the simplest requests.

As far as personal assistant demons go, they're pretty bottom-rung. It's a little hard to imagine they could organize this on short notice.

It's how they advertise themselves, isn't it? "Satan's personal demons"?

[ he sounds very much like he thinks this is bullshit; you can feel the air quotes even if he isn't actually making them. ]

week 2; saturday

[harrow is in the void, generally trying to avoid any location people may be being emotional in. when she sees him, she makes something of an unwelcoming scowl, but she doesn't go to leave, and will speak to him.]

...You did have it.

[ yeah, he's used to that kind of greeting, and it's never successfully repelled him before either. he smiles. ]

...Lavi. You caught onto him very quickly.

[teufelshund]

[ shrugs. ]

It was where all the evidence pointed. Most of them just didn't want to look in that direction, even when they started putting it together.

It was. I could see it, and I was hardly alone, but...the truth was incredibly frustrating, this time.

Frankly, I don't know why we even had to go through with all of this this time. With the other two they could frame it as if we were protecting ourselves by ousting a dangerous killer, but that clearly wasn't the case here. And if we're to believe these "demons", then this isn't even something Satan wants.

week 3; monday

[memshare week is hell. harrow is trying to avoid being caught up in it however she can, which means that when she spots mephisto, she'll turn and walk away. but she isn't fast enough.

they drop into the theater. have an memory.

[ oh, this is definitely one of the most intriguing memories he's seen. the necromancy, the mysterious motive of that other girl...

...and there's just something about feeling that fear from someone who always makes such an effort to seem perfectly composed. ]

So, how did that all turn out?

Poorly. I was right about her and she killed me.

Hm. You're right, that does sound pretty poor.

Were you at least able to learn her motivations first? It would be a shame to die without knowing the real reason why.

I did not even learn she had been the one to do it until this week.

But we had come to Canaan House for a reason, to become immortal and to serve God. She did not wish us to achieve this.

Yikes, even worse. Though immortality does tend to be a bit of a touchy subject.

[well, she's no longer under a huge pile of blankets. she's actually walking around, even if she's still wearing a heavy cloak and is pretty bandaged underneath.]

...Ah. Has yours worn off?

[ he may still have all his injuries, but his hair is no longer a poodle puff, so at least that's one victory. ]

It seems so, thankfully. The same for you, I assume?

Indeed. I am no longer chilled nor insane.

[at least not obviously insane? her hair is still longer, though. it's nearly shoulder length, when before it was a close crop.]

Well, that's certainly an improvement.

I am grateful for the return of my senses. Even if it was in time to witness another travesty of a trial.
