[ looks at my grand total of three audience threads this game, looks away ]
More like a playpen with very high walls, maybe.
In any case, I don't think they're really that much more "dead" than we are. And speaking as something of an expert on pocket dimensions, it shouldn't be impossible to travel in both directions if you have the right key. The claims that they may still be able to attend the party with the rest of us certainly line up with that.
And it sounds like it may be just some poor wording in the rules that would keep them from any chance at winning the competition itself.
That's how I interpreted the muddled answers I was given, at least. ...Well. More like we'll all eventually end up over there once the party's over and all the losers are permanently assigned to hell.
...Though I'm still not ready to accept that even the basic premise of the whole "hell" thing is accurate. Blue Hawaiian referred to something as a "glitch" once, and while it could have just been a figure of speech, it does make me a little more inclined to look into the VR theory.
I figured that much already. It's been pretty clear the chance to win is low, and the likelihood of ending up on the other side is high. But it's about having that chance, right?
Yes, exactly. As I recall, Miss Song suggested something of the sort when we first arrived here.

There's not a lot of evidence to support it, but there's some. The memories are another thing; the "demons" indicated that they couldn't see all of the conversations we had with one another here, but that they did have the ability to rewatch the scenes that played from our memories that week. It made it sound as if those scenes were recorded and played from somewhere rather than coming straight from our memories.
That makes it sound like we’ve been spied on for ages, if they can just pull recordings of our lives up like video footage. [ … ] I know, it’s hell. But it’s also weird.
Well, they may have gotten them from our memories originally. I think the potentially important part is that they have those things from prior to our arrival here prerecorded and ready to play but don't track or keep records of most of what we say and do here.
[ sigh. ]
...But then again, maybe it isn't. It seems like I keep overestimating this place's capacity for operating on consistent logic.
From the bits and pieces I've heard, the focus has been on trials. That's the entertainment part of things, for those watching this wherever the others are.
So, I'd iamgine their attention's on us more Friday through Sunday. The rest of the time is up in the air.

It is meant to be a place of torment. If it acted like you expected, that'd just be it playing along instead of tormenting you.

A playpen with alcohol in. Interesting playpen.
[ hm. ] So we're all just the same, but in different spaces. And there could be a way to bring them back here?
