[ honestly, this one's a lot more disappointing to him because uriel is really hot. ]
In any case, I can safely say that if I wake up in the middle of the night on a Thursday going forward, I won't be leaving the room unless someone is actually approaching with a weapon.
I know. When you think back, no one ever said murder was the way to secure an invite. It was something Bucky claimed because he saw something none of us did. [ he frowns. ]
Last week I assumed that Lavi forgetting what happened to Mikiri was because everyone was forgetting things that week. But Uriel also forgot what happened when she killed Zagreus.
I'm still not sure what to make of the memory matter this week without more detail. But each week, there seems to have been something luring the killers into it, either by providing a motive or creating a situation where an accident is likely to happen. It's hard to believe it's as unintentional as they say.
People wouldn't wake up if there wasn't an intent to kill from somewhere. But for the past two weeks we've had people who wouldn't choose to kill each other stuck in these situations.
I'm willing to bet there's a little meddling going on somewhere.
I agree. Though I do wonder how it's determined who will awaken during the night in those cases.
The first two weeks it was easy to conclude that people would only awaken if they were intending to kill or if they were planned to be a victim. Last week they both at least started out in the same place, and this week they didn't even have that.
I'd say it was random, but it can't be. If it was then we were unlucky as all hell the past two weeks, considering who got picked.
[ he's scrunching up his forehead in thought. ] It's not location, and apparently it's not intent... is it really just down to what counts as the worst case scenario? [ y'know. ] "Torture". It doesn't have to be physical.
The "we're not dead, we've just been told we are" theory?
[ ... he nods. ]
I've been wondering about it for a while now. Pretty much since we found out we could "die" a second time, and even more since we got in contact with the people who've "died" again.
I've thought that since the beginning. Given the different worlds that seem to exist, it's not inconceivable that different versions of Gehenna and Satan could exist within them, if human history had set different outlines for them.
...But for those of us who are intimately acquainted with our respective underworlds, and who know exactly what should happen if our physical bodies cease to function, it makes no sense whatsoever.
The things that have come to light since then have only made it less believable.
One world alone has plenty of variations on religion and the concept of what exists at the end. Some of them even build off the same base facts and stories. That part's not exactly surprising.
I've seen enough corpses to know what a dead body looks like, but beyond that? What would you expect to see after you'd died? Nothing? Or something definitely not like this?
[ ... ]
It's all suspicious, but digging for information hasn't exactly got me far. The demons are primed to be useful without really telling us anything. Whether that's part of their role or a contract they have, I have no idea, but straight answers about what's going on aren't really their thing.
[ there's a pause, but under the circumstances and with all the memories he's unwillingly shared this week, he supposes he can probably afford to be a little looser with some of the details, even if he doesn't much like it. ]
If my physical body were to die, I would return to my home Gehenna and exist as a concept with a personal ego, as my siblings have done before me.
[ he doesn't seem particularly shook by this info. well. the non-human, being of the underworld part he'll think deeper on the phrasing later maybe. ]
Less physically sitting around at bars and drinking like it's an evening in Tokyo and more... [ how is he even phrasing this? ]
Concept? More like the kind of thing you see in religion about casting off the body and whatever. Not murder and execution and whatever's going on here.
Uh. Yeah, a couple of times. But it was a two way street. [ he's thinking again for a moment. ] There's probably other people out there who saw things too, but treat this like it's one of your own secrets you're hoarding until we know more.
They don't look like that off-duty. I'm not gonna say they're all human because I don't actually know but-- [ tah dah? ] I don't think they're demons. Not in the way they're presenting at least.
I'll have to see what I can get out of them. I'm sure they've always known what I think of all this, so it shouldn't look like I'm acting based on any information you gave me.
[ me always gravitating to like three npcs and going these ones are my children now ]
Oh, so you've not been subtle with your opinions on all this then.
[ he looks kind of amused. ]
I think they're used to us being nosey and asking anything and everything under the sun. Might be worth pressing them to see how much they're willing or able to talk about of their own accord.

Yeah, don't tempt fate. If there's some freaky possession shit going on then they probably will.

Though it still strikes me as odd that they wouldn't acknowledge it being a part of the program if that's the case.

...Anyway, no, the demons — which I highly doubt they really are — aren't particularly good sources of information, unfortunately.

... They're...
[ well. ]
Did the TV thing happened for you with any of the demons this week?

Well, I can't say I find that remotely surprising, but it's certainly good to have some confirmation.
Which ones did you see?

Blue Hawaiian, Malibu Sunset and Cosmopolitan.
[ date just outing his faves like this. ]
So, I have no clue for the others but I think it's unlikely they'd be different.
